A popularMultiversusdata miner has claimed the time-traveling warrior Samurai Jack will soon make the roster. As one of the most requested fighters by fans,MultiVersusplayers are cautiously optimistic that the rumor has some truth to it.

Player First Games initially seemed to strike gold with its release ofMultiVersusback in August 2022. The ensemble-cast platform fighter was a hit, with some predicting the game could rivalSuper Smash Bros.as the be-all-end-all of the genre. With an endearingly eclectic roster of fighters, solid visual and audio design, and well-tuned gameplay, fans were excited to finally have a high-profile platform fighter that existed outside the Nintendo ecosystem. Unfortunately, amid seasonal delays, a lack of initial content, and the fickle nature of the live-service game model, the concurrentplayer base forMultiVersushas dropped off considerably.

A video uploaded to YouTube by PapaGenos claims with a degree of certainty that Samurai Jackis a plannedaddition to theMultiVersusroster. The video goes at length regarding the delay of season 3 ofMultiVersus, as well as critiquing the pace and quality of new content being added to the game. Among releases for skins that have been data-mined from the game and speculating on upcoming game modes and other additions, PapaGenos covers what they predict will be the next few fighters to be added to the game. Batman’s arch-villain Joker appears to be next up, with Pickle Rick coming soon after. The coup de grâce rumored leak covered by PapaGenos was the forthcoming addition of Samurai Jack, which they believe is codenamed C026 in the data-mined character files.

WithSeason 2 ofMultiVersusextended until the end of March, and the player base at an all-time low, Player First Games needs to make a big splash with its next few added fighters. While the foundation of the game is solid, its staying power is suspect. With that said, many fans do appear eager to dive back in if the right fighters are added. A crowd-favorite, Samurai Jack from the Cartoon Network show of the same name, would be a fantastic choice given the surrounding hype regarding the roster leaks.

Given the timing between announcements from Player First Games, aMultiVersuscharacter revealtrailer seems imminent. Whether it will be Joker, Samurai Jack, or another fighter completely off the radar of rumors and data-miners, many fans are hoping it can spark a resurgence to what seemed like such a promising future for the ensemble cast platform fighter.
