TheShin Megami Tenseifranchise is mostly known for thePersonaseries, which began as a spinoff series and blossomed into its own popular standalone franchise that many fans may argue is highly recognizable compared to the original franchise. Despite this, theShin Megami Tenseiseries has found success among the hardcore RPG fanbase, with its darker story, elements of human nature, and religious undertones.

Shin Megami Tensei5was announced very early but Atlus has not offered a ton of info since. During a mini direct dedicated to third-party developers,Atlus confirmed a 2021 release date windowand released a small trailer. Now it seems that careful plan has been ruined by a leak.

The JapaneseShin MegamiTenseiwebsite accidentally revealed a few pieces of information about the game including a release date of August 06, 2025. While the release date was leaked on the Japanese website,Atlus had already confirmed thatShin Megami Tensei 5will be a worldwide release, making the November 11th release date likely for the West. The Japanese website has since reverted to its original form and the leaked information is gone.

Details of a limited editionShin Megami Tensei 5version also leaked, explaining that the set “condenses the game’s charm [packed with] ‘plenty’ of demons and music” that will “embodyShin Megami Tensei 5.” The description suggests that the limited edition includes a soundtrack with songs featured in the game alongside an artbook,if previous Atlus bonuses are anything to go by. Information on the limited edition also mentions an item that bears resemblance to the protagonist - though details on what the item may be are unknown at the time.

Plot details ofShin Megami Tensei 5were also leaked, showing the protagonist as a high school student who enters another world known as Da’ath and forces himself into a war between demons and gods. The plot sounds similar to the recently-remasteredShin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne, which also features a normal high school student who finds himself fused with a demon to become the Demi-fiend.

Shin Megami Tensei 5will release on November 11th, 2021 for the Switch.
