espite being well over a decade at this point,Skyrimis still worth talking about, and fans have been engaged in a discussion about which of the game’s cities is the worst to visit. Over the years, eachElder Scrollssequel has managed to surpass its predecessor, with the series going from strength to strength despite some feeling that it’s lost touch with its traditional role-playing roots. That said, the fifth installment is hugely influential and many people +are still engrossed in its lore and world.
There’s no denying thatSkyrimhas some gorgeous locations, from Lake Ilinalta to the Shrine of Azura to the haunting plains of Sovngarde. Even some of the game’s cities are worthy of note, such as Markarth, which has been built into the very rocks of a mountain. Throughout every journey, the Dragonborn must encounter this slice of Tamriel’s many inhabited locales, teeming with side quests, shops, and local landmarks. However, not all cities are created equally, and there are even some which players don’t like visiting at all.

In a recent post on Reddit, a bunch ofSkyrimfans have been discussing which city is the most annoying. There have been some notable contenders, such as Winterhold, which kind of makes sense given that it’s now less of a habitable city due to the Great Collapse and is no longer thriving. The fact that it’s also in one of the most northerly, and therefore coldest, regions of the map probably doesn’t help. One person mentioned Marthal because, despite its unique look, the streets are “super annoying to navigate,” while others have mentioned Windhelm, with one person calling it “super depressing,” and even Riften cropped up in the debate.
Everyone has their opinion about which city they prefer not to visit if they can help it, though Whiterun didn’t seem to get a mention. Interestingly enough, this recent discussion is the antithesis of anotherdebate about everyone’s favorite city inSkyrimwhere, as some would have guessed, Whiterun did appear to be favorable with many in the community.
From talking about which is the best expansion to a discussion onhowSkyrim’s economy manages to stay alive, there are so many topics when it comes toTES5. WhetherThe Elder Scrolls 6will be able to inspire such discourse remains to be seen, but given that this next installment is still nowhere in sight, fans will keep talking about the 2011 RPG instead.
