SomeCall of Duty: Warzone 2fans are requesting certain revisions to the game’s user interface. With the release of season 2 ofWarzone 2,many gamers feel like the information feed being given through the UI is a touch on the overbearing side.
Thesecond season ofWarzone 2launched on February 15, introducing players to an all-new map, Ashika Island, along with the return of the resurgence game mode and a litany of additional tweaks to balance, as well as new cosmetics to purchase or earn. Reception has been positive, however, the new season is not without its flaws. A Reddit post by soul_system encapsulates the continuing frustration players have toward the direction ofWarzone 2’s UI. The amount of visual cues cluttering the screens of players has created a sense of confusion and is overwhelming for some. Certain visual cues appear in the same font and placing of others, leading to incorrect assumptions about what the player just accomplished. Thearmor broken cue and the downed player cue inWarzone 2are some of the most egregious offenders, with fans lamenting over unfair deaths caused by believing they had downed a player when in actuality they had just broken their armor. The visual clutter also occludes the screen, affecting the ability of players to see the battlefield clearly. In a game that can be as frantic and chaotic asWarzone 2, this over-sharing of information seems like a serious misstep.
Fortunately, theUI issues inWarzone 2might be a relatively easy fix for Infinity Ward, stacked up against the likes of more problematic technical issues and gameplay imbalance. While that is not to say those types of issues do not exist inWarzone 2, they appear to be fairly minor in comparison. If Infinity Ward can introduce some type of custom UI settings system, a fairly standard practice among AAA games, the game should be in a good place for its next big content patch.
Given Infinity Ward’strack record withWarzoneandWarzone 2, there is hope among the fan base that these pressing issues will get the attention they deserve. Until then, players will have to contend with an over-busy UI and take solace in the fact that enemy players are dealing with the same disadvantages.
