Miles “Tails” Prower is best known as Sonic’s best friend/little brother figure within theSonicfranchise. In fact, Tails has even been in the spotlight in certain episodes and issues ofSonic Xand theSoniccomics respectively.

While fans are likely to know Tails for his flying and tinkering abilities, he’s helped Sonic save the day more than once. During theSonic Adventureseries, Tails' struggles involved being less reliant on Sonic and having more confidence in himself. Unfortunately, he was not a key playable character in recent games, and his portrayal inSonic ForcesandSonic Lost Worldhas been met with mixed to negative views within the fanbase.
7Sonic X: The Metarex Saga
The first two seasons ofSonic Xcovered theSonic AdventureandSonic Adventure 2video games with adjustments to accommodate anime-exclusive characters like Christopher Thorndyke. By the third season,Sonic Xadds a new line of enemies called the Metarex, who are alien species set on stealing each planet’s Planet Egg. The Metarex Saga also introduces a new character named Cosmo, who develops a close relationship with Tails.
Because of this, many Cosmo-centric episodes focus on her and Tails. Some episodes to note are “The Cosmo Conspiracy,” in which Tails protects Cosmo from Shadow the Hedgehog. Perhaps one of Tails' biggest heroic moments comes in “A Fearless Friend.” Cosmo keeps Final Mova immobilized so that Tails can fire the Sonic Power Canon and defeat the Metarex once and for all. Unfortunately, this involves shooting Cosmo as well, which he is obviously reluctant to do.With some persuasion from Cosmoand Eggman, he does what needs to be done. Though season 3’s ending is more tragic than season 2, Tails' actions in this episode showcase tremendous courage.

6Sonic Heroes: Fighting Metal Overlord
With how the gameplay is set up inSonic Heroes, it may be better to just cite the entire Team Sonic storyline as one of Tails' heroics. He serves as the Flight team member of Team Sonic and is the one to deliver Eggman’s letter to Sonic, thus kicking off the game. Tails and Knuckles may not be the leader of Team Sonic, but they spend just as much time fighting Eggman’s badniks as Sonic does.
By the Last Episode ofSonic Heroes, Tails and Knuckleshelp Super Sonic defeat Metal Overlord. Oddly enough, Tails' super form is just a bubble of energy, but the change is enough to power up his Thunder Shoot ability. Some fans may debate whether defeating Metal Overlord counts as one of Tails' heroics since he was helping Super Sonic rather than saving the day alone. However, it’s a stark contrast to just cheering on Super Sonic from the sidelines.

5Sonic the Hedgehog (2006): Saving Sonic
The 15th anniversarySonic the Hedgehoggame is notorious for its loading time, story, and character direction among the fanbase. Despite this, it managed to handle some characters well such as Shadow the Hedgehog, and even introduced Silver the Hedgehog to theSonicworld. Like usual, Tails is playable in Sonic’s Episode and even gets a solo level - Wave Ocean.
An offscreen moment occurs when Tails lures Eggman’s robots away from Princess Elise and Sonic in Dusty Desert. He’s also willing to help Sonic rescue Elise following her first kidnapping by Dr. Eggman. In the final episode, Tails and the others traverse the dangerous spatial rift togather the Chaos Emeralds and revive Sonic.

4Sonic Colors: Taking The Hit
Oddly enough, Tails isn’t suspicious of Eggman’s Interstellar Amusement Park inSonic Colors, believing Eggman has turned over a new leaf when there’s nothing outright suspicious to be found. Of course, the amusement park ends up being a front for Eggman’s plans to take over the world by utilizing the Wisps' Hyper-go-on energy to create a mind-control device. Unfortunately,Tails is not playable inSonic Colors, and most of his role is relegated to giving Sonic in-game tips and building a translator for the Wisps.

Tails ends up being on the receiving end of Eggman’s prototype. It’s during this scene where Tails notices Eggman sneaking up on them for an ambush, shoving Sonic out of the way just in time. Tails is temporarily controlled by Eggman before the machine runs out of energy.
3Sonic Lost World: Taking The Hit… Again
Sonic and Tails wind up having to work with Eggman to stop the Deadly Six, something that displeases Tails greatly. This causes him and Sonic to argue, with Tails thinking Sonic trusts Eggman’s skills over Tails. Considering the times Tails worked with Eggman inSonic Adventure 2andSonic Heroes, many fans found this fight jarring and almost out of character for someone as modest as Tails.
Despite their disagreement, Tails saves Sonic when he goes to open one of the animal capsules. It turns out the capsule wasa trap set up by the Zeti, and Tails noticed this at the last minute. Tails pushes Sonic out of the way and gets captured instead, thus throwing a wrench in the Zeti’s plans.

Luckily, Tails pulls himself together quickly and has one final battle with Eggman, in which he emerges victorious. By the final story, Tails sets aside his differences with Eggman to form a temporary alliance to stop the ARK from falling.
1Sonic Adventure: Stopping The Missile In Station Square
Perhaps Tails' biggest and most memorable heroic deed is inSonic Adventure. Each character has their own story inSonic Adventure, with Tails' story lining up with Sonic, but Tails taking on a more heroic role. For example, instead of Sonic fighting Zero aboard the Eggman’s ship, it’s Tails.
The final boss in Tails' storyis the Egg Walker. It’s revealed that Eggman sent out a missile to blow up Station Square, but it didn’t detonate. So, in a race against Eggman, Tails hurries to Station Square to defuse the bomb. He manages to do so, only for Eggman to show up. It’s at this point Tails comes to terms that he can’t keep relying on Sonic forever, so he stands his ground against the Egg Walker and saves Station Square all on his own.
