The first difference that fans noticed was when Miguel asked Lyla to send backup. One version of the scene ended with Lyla pointing at Miguel, while the other finished with Lyla taking a selfie with Miguel. The version where Lyla takes a selfie with Miguel is the version that ended up on the digital release. This is the same version with Ben Reilly saying, “This one’s called the sleeper hold, I’m using my bicep to constrict your…” instead of “I’ve got you trapped in my well-defined musculature, so don’t even…”
Across the Spider-Verserevolves around what Miguel calls “canon events” that happen to every Spider-Man and need to occur, or else that whole universe could collapse. It makes it more interesting that they would release multiple versions of the film. This is making fans question which one is canon. Fans may have gotten an answer with the digital release, but does that mean the other version will be unavailable to watch once it leaves theaters?
Although it would be cool for some fans to say they watched both versions ofSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it will also be a shame that other people might not experience that.
