STALKER 2generated a lot of excitement when it was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase. While the series was new to some viewers, others had been waiting forsnippets of information aboutSTALKER 2for some time. The teaser for the game was impressive and many have remarked on the stunning visuals as the clip has increased in popularity. However, there seems to be some bad news for fans as the trailer was a target render.
The originalSTALKERwas released in 2007 and took place in the nuclear fallout of Chernobyl, however, the events had been fictionalized to allow for supernatural elements. The game was innovative in the way it gave players options as they uncovered what happened in “The Zone” and these options were met with immediate or lasting consequences. Naturally, many players were happy to seeSTALKER 2at the Xbox Game Showcaseas it could be another innovative title.

Despite the excitement surroundingSTALKER 2, it seems that the trailer “demonstrates the level of graphics and atmosphere we [GSC] are aiming to achieve on release.” This may lead to players adjusting their expectations for the game but there was also some positive news about the upcoming title. The tweet from the team working onSTALKER 2went on to answer frequently asked questions and claimed that the game would feature one of the “biggest open-worlds to date.” The answers also confirmed that the game would focus on first-person shooting, and would also include multiple endings much like the previous title. This will likely please fans as it seems like the game is expanding its scope well staying true to its roots and what made the original special.
The team also took the time to restate that the game will be freely available on Xbox Game Pass upon release. In fact, allgames shown at the Xbox Game Showcase will be available on Xbox Game Passwhen they are released. With this in mind, it seems that Xbox is developing a compelling roster for an affordable price. With exciting games that have cult followings being available at launch, for a cheap subscription price, this service model may prove to be very successful.
The trailer forSTALKER 2has more views than theHalo Infinitetrailerand it is clear that there is a lot of anticipation for the game to release. With that in mind, many may overlook the game not looking quite as good as it does in the trailer if it can deliver the signature gameplay of the series. Particularly when players can try the game for free when using the Xbox Game Pass.
