Upgrade crafting and outpost building both take tons of resources inStarfield, and players are going to need to load their cargo bays up with as many materials as they can get before fully diving into these systems. There are also many different types of resources though, and some are much harder to find than others.

Sterile Nanotubes are one of the various kinds of manufactured resources inStarfield— they can’t be mined like raw resources, and they’re significantly more valuable than common junk and miscellaneous items. Getting these can be a bit hard, but this won’t always be the case if players know what to do and where to look.
Where to Find Sterile Nanotubes
Players can randomly find Sterile Nanotubes lying around shelves, desks, and other surfaces all over the galaxy. They can appear in mining camps, research bases, medical stations, and any other similar type of installation. They do blend in with clutter, and it can be hard to tell them apart from useless junk. Players should be able to find these more easily by tracking them via workbench screens and Research Labs.
It’s hard to tell if Sterile Nanotubes appear more often in specific types of rooms or not considering how random clutter placement is. Players should keep an eye out for these regardless, especially if theyfind themselves boarding enemy ships.

For a less RNG-reliant way of finding Sterile Nanotubes, players canpay certain storefronts a visit. All sorts of materials are often sold in general goods stores like Outland and Jemison Mercantile on New Atlantis, Sieghart’s Outfitters on Neon, and Shepherd’s on Akila City. If nanotubes aren’t on any of the traders' menus, find a bed or chair and wait for 24 local hours to refresh their inventories.
If players are still having trouble finding Sterile Nanotubes, then it may be best to level up first. Vendor stocks appear to scale depending on the character’s current state, and we’ve found the most ideal time to look for crafting materials in stores is by the Level 30 mark. By this time, most of the merchants should have a much wider array of items for sale.

The cost of Sterile Nanotubes is negligible unless players are planning on buying these by the thousands. However, each piece takes up 3.00 points of Mass, making them fairly heavy. ensure to have enough inventory and cargo space when carrying these around.
Starfieldis available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
