Blizzard started off BlizzCon 2019 with anapology for the Hong Kong controversy. It then quickly transitioned to the official announcement ofDiablo 4, a game that has been rumored for years and appears to have been in development for even longer than many fans could have expected.
Blizzard revealedDiablo 4with a lengthy cinematic that set the stage for the game’s main villains. In the cinematic, players can see the villain Lilith summoned, complete with massive, Satantic horns and what appears to be a huge cape made out of human skin.

While some fans may have worried that Blizzard would only be showing a cinematic trailer forDiablo 4atBlizzCon 2019, the company actually had a lot more to show. TheDiablo 4director took the stage to confirm some of the leaks that have popped up about the game these past couple of weeks, including its playable classes.
Prior to the game’s reveal at BlizzCon 2019, leaks claimed to revealDiablo 4’s playable classes. As it turns out, those leaks were largely correct. TheDiablo 4playable classeswill be Barbarian, Sorceress, and Druid. It’s important to note that theDiablo 4director noted that these are just the “first” classes revealed for the isometric action-RPG. It’s quite likely that there will be even more playable classes forDiablo 4when the game actually launches.
As for when theDiablo 4release date may be, that remains unclear. However, Blizzard confirmed the game for PS4 and Xbox One, which seems to suggest that it will be available by the time the PS5 and Project Scarlett come out. Those next-gen consoles are aiming for holiday 2020 release dates, so it seems as thoughDiablo 4fans may very well be able to get their hands on the game by this time next year. Of course, that’s assuming thatDiablo 4isn’t hit with a delay and moved over to the next-gen consoles.
While fans will have to wait for news on theDiablo 4release date, the reception to the game has so far been pretty positive. Fans who were upset about theDiablo Immortalannouncement from last year’s BlizzCon appear to have been appeased by theDiablo 4reveal, which looks as though it will be taking the series back to its roots.
Diablo 4is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
