A fan preview of the soon-to-openSuper Nintendo Worldis offering a first look at Universal Studio’s newest Hollywood theme park.Super Nintendo Worldshave been announced for several locations across the world over the past several years. So far, only Universal Studios Japan’s park has opened, but it’s already a hit with Nintendo fans across the world traveling as they’re able. Now the second Super Nintendo World is opening and expectations are understandably high.
Super Nintendo World was first announced as far back as 2015, but construction delays in tandem with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic pushed the Japanese park’s launch all the way back to early 2021. TheUniversal Studios Hollywood theme parkwas confirmed as far back as 2016, but has had even more of a delay. Construction didn’t even begin until 2019. Patience has paid off, however, as Super Nintendo World Hollywood is scheduled for opening to annual pass holders on January 29, followed by a grand opening on February 17.

With Super Nintendo World Hollywood’s opening quickly approaching, it appears that Universal Studios has held a preview event for certain members of the press and prominent Universal Studios Hollywood community members. Attraction Magazine has taken the opportunity to put together a first-look video of the park. For the most part, the video shows only still photography of the park, but there is also a video clip of one ofSuper Nintendo World’s AR games.
Attractions at the park include the Super Mario Battle Team Bowser, which can be seen in the video, aMario Kart Ridethat is not shown, and the Toadstool Cafe. A menu for the Toadstool Cafe shows standard American food fare, including a Mario Burger, Super Star Chicken Salad, Princess Peach Cupcake, Mario Mini Burger Adventure Set, and Power-Up Spaghetti Marinara.
The largest difference between the Hollywood location of Super Nintendo World is, unfortunately, that it won’t have the Yoshi ride found in Japan and other locations. As explained by the tour guide in the video, the Hollywood location is constrained by available space. TheYoshi’s Aventure Ride in Japanis a slow-moving train that tours the park showcasing various scenery. It’s a cute ride, but not necessarily a huge disappointment to miss out on.
As noted, Super Nintendo World will be opening in Universal Studios Hollywood for all attendees starting February 17. Those who aren’t able to make it to the West Coast can look forward toSuper Nintendo Worldin Universal’s Epic Universe in Florida sometime in summer 2025.
