Amazon Prime Video has revealed the first photos of the new superhero characters joining the cast ofThe Boysseason 4.Portrayed by actors Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward, Firecracker and Sister Sage are original characters created for the series.

Based on the comic series of the same name,The Boysfollows a group of rough-and-tumble vigilantes led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) who take on corrupt superheroes. The series was developed for Amazon Prime and Sony Pictures Television byshowrunner Eric Kripke, who serves as executive producer alongside Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The season 3 finale aired on Amazon Prime Video in July 2022, and production forThe Boysseason 4 is currently underway in Toronto.

In the new photos, Curry and Heyward are decked out in their new superhero gear. Heyward’s Sister Sage wears a brownish and gold-coloured uniform, accompanied by some very stylish sunglasses and tall platform boots. Meanwhile, Curry sports a more traditional superhero look, one that is slightly more revealing and stylized with a blue and red color scheme, and she appears to be armed with a holstered gun. According toVariety, both suits were designed byThe Boyscostume designer Laura Jean Shannon, who alsocreated the Soldier Boy costumeworn by actor Jensen Ackles in season 3.

Heyward is best known for her breakout role as prison guard Tamika Ward in the final two seasons of the hit Netflix seriesOrange Is The New Black. More recently, she starred in the OWN seriesDelilahand is set to star in upcoming the Apple TV Plus seriesHello Tomorrow.Curry has previously acted on Amazon’s short-lived seriesThe Tick, alongside Griffin Newman and Peter Serafinowicz. More recently she starred as the lead in the Peacock original seriesThe Lost Symbol, and she is known for her recurring roles on the Showtime seriesHouse of LiesstarringArmor Warsactor Don Cheadleand the popular detective seriesVeronica Mars.

There is very little known about these new characters, and Amazon Prime has been very tight-lipped regarding details, only telling Variety that further information about the new Supes “will be kept under wraps until the season airs.” It’s difficult to say what role these two will play in the next season ofThe Boys, but Sister Sage does look like she’d be right at home in the late 1960s or 70s and could be much older than she appears, while Firecracker is most likely a riff on theMarvel character Black Widow, played by actress Scarlett Johansson in the MCU.
