Kenobiis set to debut onDisney +on May 25th which has fans understandably quite excited. Fan reaction to the series is already positive owing to the titular character having been a favorite of theStar Warsfranchise for a good many years. Add on the fact that Hayden Christensen will be returning to play the role of Darth Vader, with a rematch in the pipeline, and it’s not hard to see why the show has so much buzz around it.

Star Warsis in an exciting time with lots of new content slated to release. There are several things fans want from theKenobiseries when it airs. The original trilogy is one of thebest movie trilogies, and it’s great to see expansion on this time period through the Disney + shows.

Updated July 01, 2025 by Brad R. Edwards:TheKenobi trailerwas released in March 2022, confirming some plot elements as well as teasing where the story might go. Star Wars fans were already buzzing about the arrival of the series but the trailer has taken the excitement through the roof. There are a lot of things fans are looking for from this series and they have been waiting for a Kenobi-focused piece of content for years. The pressure is on for Disney Plus to do right by the fans with this show. So far, it appears that they will exceed expectations.

10The Inquisitors

The Inquisitors are a group of Acolytes that work forthe Empireas Force and lightsaber wielders, while not being considered Sith. A lot of them are previous Jedi who were captured and taken to be brainwashed as tools. The Inquisitors allow Vader and Palpatine to take a back seat while they scour the galaxy looking for and bringing in/ killing Jedi who survived Order 66.

The Inquisitors have featured inRebels,Jedi Fallen Order, and lots ofStar Warscomics. Their appearance in live-action is long-overdue and is sure to make a lot of more hardcoreStar Warsfans happy. The Grand Inquisitor and Fifth Brother appeared extensively inRebelsand while they won’t be played in live-action by their previous actors, they are sure to be familiar regardless.

9Different Planets

While fan and critical reaction toThe MandalorianandThe Book of Boba Fetthas largely been positive, fans have been lamenting the “overuse” of Tatooine, asking to see more planets from the Galaxy Far Far Away. The trailer confirms that Kenobi travels to a different planet at one point, leading the Inquisitors to try and look for him.

Fans will be excited to see different planets and a more sci-fi feel to the show with galaxy-faring travel happening throughout. While there needs to be a balance to maintain the lore that Obi-Wan is a Tatooine hermit there is certainly room to show him travelling around discovering what he can about the Empire.

8Lars Family

While the Lars family aren’t the most expanded upon characters, they are certainly important as they raised Luke from a young age. It is their death at the hands of the Stormtroopers that led to Luke finally agreeing to help take down the Empire. They appeared originally inA New Hopebut also briefly in bothAttack of the ClonesandRevenge of the Sith.

InKenobi, Owen Lars will be played by the same actor from the prequels, which fans are likely to be happy about. While the focus should remain on Kenobi in his titular series, we’ve seen from the trailer that both Owen and young Luke appear; therefore, hopefully theDisney+show will expand on the Lars family, particularly as Owen wants nothing to do with Kenobi due to fear of Luke being discovered.

7A Quintessential Greeting

Fans have long made memes of the moment inRevenge of the Sithwhere Kenobi drops onto a platform to confront General Grievous, announcing himself with a “Hello there.” As silly as it sounds, the meme has been a big reason for the character’s popularity increase over the past 15 years and matches even thefunniest Kylo Ren memes.

While Kenobi will obviously be trying to keep a low profile on Tatooine throughout the series, there is definitely room to slip in a cheeky “Hello there” in a scene where he meets another character.

6Clone Wars PTSD

The Clone Wars was one of the largest battles ever to take place in the Galaxy Far Far Away, with Kenobi acting as one of the most crucial generals in the war. Via expansion in the form of theClone WarsTV show, comics, and novels, fans got to see many of Kenobi’s adventures throughout this war and saw as he waded through countless near-death experiences and difficult, soul-destroying battles. Obi-Wan was a huge character in the series, appearing in most of theClone Wars' best arcs.

Fans shouldn’t expect anything too dark from a Disney series, but hopefully, the show explores at least a little bit of the PTSD that Kenobi and other survivors of the Clone Wars likely face in the aftermath of the war.

5Anakin And Obi-Wan

Obi-Wan raised Anakin from the age of 10 until he reached adulthood, serving as his Master after Qui-Gon Jinn, who wanted to train Anakin himself, was killed by Darth Maul inThe Phantom Menace. They went on to serve in the Clone Wars together, regularly working with each other on specific missions. Obi-Wan and Anakin were thebest characters in the Prequel Trilogy, and fans loved their half-brotherly, half-father-and-son dynamic.

Anakin and Obi-Wan on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith

With Hayden Christensen returning toStar Warsfor the series, fans will be hoping for at least a few flashback scenes of the pair, both when Anakin was Kenobi’s Padawan and when they served during the Clone Wars as equally respected Jedi.

4Force Ghosts

At the end ofRevenge of the Sith, it was revealed by Yoda to Kenobi that he had been communing with Kenobi’s deceased Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who had managed to retain his consciousness in death. While Qui-Gon had not been able to retain his physical embodiment, his Force Ghost could commune with Kenobi as well as Yoda. Force Ghosts wereunderused in the original trilogy, and there is definitely a place for them in theKenobiseries.

This also opens the door for other Force Ghosts to appear, such as Mace Windu. If any Force Ghost were to appear, fans would surely want it to be Qui-Gon due to the significance of the character in Kenobi’s history.

3Young Luke

Kenobi is hiding out as a hermit on Tatooine to protect young Luke Skywalker, who will one day grow into the hero fans know and love from the Original Trilogy. At the time of the series, Luke will be a young child.

RELATED:Star Wars: Things You Didn’t Know About The Skywalker Family

Luke has seen much more action in the Star Wars TV shows than anybody expected, with him having appearances in bothThe MandalorianandThe Book of Boba Fett. Since Kenobi is where he is solely to watch over Luke, it is expected that we’ll see at least a couple of scenes of Luke as a child in the series, since we know fromA New Hopethat he at least knew of Ben Kenobi, even if they weren’t particularly close.

2Darth Vader Realization

While Kenobi did fight Darth Vader before he wore the suit, he was never aware that Anakin was going under this new name in his Sith persona. When they meet up inA New Hope, Kenobi is aware that Anakin is Vader, leading fans to wonder when he realized this. This is one of the mostuntapped plotlines inStar Wars, so hopefully,Kenobican rectify that.

While the show is likely to take place on Tatooine, fans are hoping for at least some exploration from Kenobi. There could be a moment where he discovers Darth Vader via the Holonet and vows to discover if he is indeed Anakin.

1Lightsaber Fights

Kathleen Kennedy has already promised that Darth Vader will be returning for the"biggest rematch of the century"between him and Kenobi. While fans are obviously excited to see a lightsaber duel between the two, hopefully, their rematch will not take place on Tatooine and not cause anyStar Warslore inconsistencies. If Vader and Kenobi are truly going to fight in the show, it should be done off-world so that Vader doesn’t know Kenobi is living on Tatooine, since he could figure out that he has a son on the planet somewhere.

Fans are also hoping for more than one lightsaber fight, as Kenobi will likely struggle to resist intervening in crimes being committed across the planet against innocent lives owing to his history as a people-protecting Jedi.
