Summary
Destiny 2’s Echoes Episode is fast approaching the release of its second act, which will include multiple changes and new activities, such as two Battlegrounds dedicated to the story and environment of Nessus and the Compelled Vex. With Act 2 will come newSeasonal Artifact mods inDestiny 2, this time dedicated to sniper rifles - specifically boosting Solar sniper rifles like the recently revamped Uzume RR4 or Exotics like Still Hunt and Whisper of the Worm. Moreover, Act 2 will also feature the 2024 version of the Solstice event, though no official start date for the event has been set.
Destiny 2has a long history with seasonal events like Solstice, and they have mostly undergone a lot of changes - in some cases, they have been scrapped altogether, such as Crimson Days. In the case of Solstice, Bungie seems to have found a good formula for the event where players form Fireteams and take on several enemies in a dedicated location, and the 2024 version is poised to feature plenty of new things to look out for.

Every Confirmed and Possible Feature For Destiny 2’s Solstice 2024
Predicting Solstice 2024 Release Date For Destiny 2
No official start date for Solstice 2024 has been provided, but based on the current schedule, it would make sense for it to drop on July 30 or August 7. Since there were three weekly missions forDestiny 2’s Echoes Act 1, that could be the standard for Act 2 as well, meaning the first mission goes live on July 16 when Act 2 launches, then the second on July 23, and the third on July 30. If this is the case, then it would make sense for Bungie to fill the void between Act 2 and Act 3 with Solstice, thus launching the event on July 30 alongside what could be the last mission of Act 2 or on August 7, the week after that.
Both scenarios make sense, though the Solstice event has typically gone live sooner in the past three years. The start dates for Solstice (and the previous iteration, called Solstice of Heroes) occurred on the following days:
Destiny 2’s Solstice 2024 Gameplay Loop Explained
Unless Bungie dramatically changes the way the event works,Destiny 2’s Solstice eventtakes place in the EAZ (European Aerial Zone) with a dedicated activity called Bonfire Bash. The gameplay loop is relatively straightforward, with one of the challenges for newcomers being finding their way through the EAZ’s buildings and jumping puzzles to reach specific locations. Players are tasked with stoking the bonfire up to 30 times, with rewards being better the more the bonfire is stoked. Players need to defeat bosses around the EAZ to stoke the bonfire, as these enemies will spawn Igniters that players can throw at the big bonfire in the middle of the map.
Assuming that Solstice’s mechanics stay the same, players will earn Silver Leaves by completing activities while wearingDestiny 2’s Candescent or Sunlit Armor. Silver Leaves can then be converted into Silver Ash at the end of Bonfire Bash, and Silver Ash can in turn be used to reroll stats on Candescent Armor. Finally, players will gain Kindling by completing Solstice-specific challenges, which can be spent on unlocking the Solstice glow on Candescent Armor pieces, one at a time. As such, Candescent Armor is often considered one of the best farms for new players thanks to high rerollable stats and unique designs.
While this is unconfirmed, there is a chance that Bungie will add the Dread as one of the enemy factions that players need to go up against in Bonfire Bash. Since Bonfire Bash currently features most enemy factions, it would make sense for Bungie to addDestiny 2’s new Dread from The Final Shapeexpansion. This would make the event feel fresh compared to past editions, and it could come with new boss fights as well.
New and Reprised Guns for Solstice 2024 Explained
As with every new edition ofseasonal events inDestiny 2, Solstice 2024 will add a new gun and offer new perk combinations on existing weapons to make the farming process more interesting. This year, the new dedicated weapon is a lightweight Void bow as seen from datamining, although the bow’s name remains to be disclosed. The current weapon selection is as follows:
The Strand rocket launcher Crowning Duologue fromSolstice 2023 forDestiny 2will get new perks all around, and some combinations will make it worth farming, especially since it’s the only Strand Precision Frame rocket launcher in the game. In column three, players will be able to get Reconstruction, whereas column four has access to both Bipod and Bait and Switch, making the new version of Crowning Duologue a very good pick for PvE.
How Solstice 2024’s Event Card Could Work in Destiny 2
Lastly, players will be getting a new selection of goods from the Eververse Store, including new Solstice armor sets and possibly a newDestiny 2Solstice event card. The event card is purchasable with Silver only, with varying rewards that are still unconfirmed for the 2024 version.
Event cards typically include cosmetics and cost 1,000 Silver to purchase. The cosmetics can be a selection of an exclusive Shader, Ghost Shell, Ship, Sparrow or Skimmer, and Emotes.
