Though the slew of acquisitions seemed a little jarring at first, the general public has, for the most part, gotten used to seeing the Disney name linked with other big-name brands, andthe upcoming Disney and Marvel Games Showcaseis the perfect example of this. In just over a week, a bunch of Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney games are all being showcased together, and one of the more interesting titles looks to beDisney Dreamlight Valley.
Announced just a few months ago,Disney Dreamlight Valleyis a Gameloft-developed game that seems to take a lot of inspiration from life-sims likeAnimal CrossingandStardew Valley. Based ontheDreamlight Valleytrailers released so far, it looks like players will be able to customize their own avatar and venture out into a Disney-inspired fantasy world, packed to the brim with references to iconic Disney series. The general gameplay loop will see players talk to Disney character NPCs, complete some fetch quests, plant some crops, make some food, and unlock new decorations for their house and the surrounding area. ThoughDisney Dreamlight Valleyis entering early access on September 6, it’s still set to appear at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase on September 9.

What To Expect From Disney Dreamlight Valley At The Showcase
WithDisney Dreamlight Valleytechnically releasing onto early access a few days before the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, it’s a little unclear as to what Gameloft could announce about the game. It seems fairly likely that one final launch trailer will air during the showcase, hammering home the high level of customization and the immense nostalgia ofDreamlight Valleyjust in case it hasn’t managed to grab the attention of every Disney fan out there.
The most likely announcement that could come fromDisney Dreamlight Valleyduring the showcase is a future roadmap for the game. As is often the case withbig-name early access titles like this, a roadmap that details the next year or so of free updates tends to come out alongside the game entering early access. As of right now,Disney Dreamlight Valleyhasn’t announced any form of DLC roadmap, which makes its presence at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase fairly likely.
WhileDisney Dreamlight Valleyseems to have a lot of content for fans to dive into on day-one, it may run the risk of having players drop-off quite quickly if everything can be unlocked within just a day or two. But on the other hand, ifDreamlight Valleyisfilled with microtransactions, which some fans are very skeptical about, then it could turn away players before they’ve even stepped through the door.
A good balance between the two is to ensure thatDreamlight Valleyis consistently updated with new, worthwhile content. Some of the content that could be included in a potentialDisney Dreamlight Valleyupdate could be fresh avatar customization items, furniture,iconic Disney characterNPCs, and more quests to go alongside their introduction. There’s a lot of potential inDisney Dreamlight Valley, and hopefully Gameloft can cement that during the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase.
