When the firstCall of Duty: Warzonereleased back in early 2020, it became an immediate smash-hit, managing to overtake just about every other battle royale to earn a top spot right next toApex LegendsandFortnite. Through countless updates, the firstCall of Duty:Warzonemanaged to retain its high ranking, even despite some egregious technical issues. Before launch, fans hoped thatCall of Duty: Warzone 2.0could live up to the heights of its predecessor, and fix everything that went wrong in the years that followed its original launch, and for the most part, it seems as though fans got what they wanted.
Released back in November 2022,Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0introduces players to a brand new map that’s even more expansive than Verdansk and Caldera, with a ton of new gameplay mechanics to enrich the classicWarzoneexperience. Along with the new features, Infinity Ward has also introduced a new and improved Battle Pass system that offers players more freedom in how they choose to redeem rewards. Just like its competitors,Warzone 2.0’s Battle Pass lasts a few months, and at the end of that period, the game gets refreshed with new content in an update called a “Season.” And withWarzone 2.0Season 1 released quite some time ago, fans are wondering when Season 2 is due to launch.

When Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 Season 2 Could Start
According toCall of Duty: Warzone 2.0’s Battle Passtimer, Season 1 should come to an end on January 31. As is the nature of all live-service battle royales,Warzone 2.0is likely to then be updated pretty soon after, with maybe a few hours of server downtime while Infinity Ward patches in the new content. So, by all logic,Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0Season 2 should start on May 16, 2025. This means that the Season 2 update should land on a Wednesday, which has been a running trend withWarzoneever since its debut in March 2020.
WhileWarzone 2.0Season 2’s start date is fairly set in stone, its launch time isn’t quite as concrete. In the past,WarzoneandmainlineCall of Dutyentrieshave received their seasonal updates at around 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, and about 6 PM GMT. There’s no reason whyWarzone 2.0Season 2 wouldn’t stick to this trend, but there’s always room for delays in the gaming industry, and fans shouldn’t be too disheartened if the Season 2 update doesn’t drop as early as past updates have.
With Season 1 still in full swing, Infinity Ward hasn’t given any details onWarzone 2.0Season 2 yet. That being said, there have been some pretty major leaks released in the last few weeks, some of which point to Season 2’s general direction, and the content it might bring toWarzone 2.0. According to the leaks,Warzone 2.0is set to focus on Japan, with some map additions and Operator skins revolving around Japanese-themed content. Apparently,Modern Warfare 2019’s Ronin Operator skinwill make a comeback, along with a few new Japanese-themed Operator skins that’ll be included in the Battle Pass. Some leaks even suggest thatCall of Duty: World at War’s “Castle” map will be making a return, perhaps as a Resurgence arena.
Those that ownCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2as well should also be able to enjoy a slew of new content for that game’s multiplayer on the same day, withModern Warfare 2Season 2set to launch alongsideWarzone 2.0Season 2.Modern Warfare 2’s second Season will also follow a Japanese theme, if the leaks are true. The leaks also detail two new weapons, those being a crossbow and a Vepr-12 shotgun.
