Art styles and spectacular visuals are key elements that Otaku seek in all anime.The stunning visuals, themes, storylines, and action sequences make anime appealing to people of all ages. For action or shonen anime, the visuals andwell-captured fight sequencesmostly keep fans captivated until the end. The fictional world of anime is so amazing that bringing the manga story to life onscreen is no easy task.
If an anime is not visually appealing, it is meaningless. The graphics and art styles of an old anime likeOne Piece(1999) improved over time as the story progressed. Viewers accepted anime styles and graphics at the time because they corresponded with the production technology available at the period. Nakaba Suzuki’sSeven Deadly Sins, orNanatsu No Taizi, is about seven Britannian warriors who were wrongfully accused of plotting to overthrow the Liones Kingdom. The warriors were disbanded as a result of this accusation, and they dispersed throughout the lands. The manga and anime Seven Deadly Sins have excellent approval fan ratings and have been successful after their release.Meliodas and Elizabeth’s stories, combined with Bans and Elaine and some of the Ten Commandments, give off an exquisiteness of more splendid storytelling arts to come. Unfortunately, more than the breathtaking storyline must entice some anime fans to see it through to the end. Because of the many fast-paced action sequences in The Seven Deadly Sins, a poor animation would do no good.
With the release of the third season, the animation quality of The Seven Deadly Sins suffered. This was because theAniplex Animation Studiolet go of the series, and it consequently became a project for Studio Deen, which messed up a well-promising anime.Imperial Wrath of The Gods, supposedly the best of the series, enters a shackle of no return with the new animation studio. This is unavoidable after the transition because the new studio will have a completely different animation team than Aniplex, which could either elevate or degrade the series—the answer is already clear. The anticipated fight between Demon Meliodas and Escanor turns out to be disastrous.

Most of the fight scenes inImperial Wrath of The Godsfall short of expectations, with less emphasis on capturing actual fights and swift motion for an anime of this caliber. In other words, sedentary qualities were emphasized more. Which fan would prefer to see ananime fight in which Zoro’s ‘Onigiri’is not well captured, or to see Obito and Kakashi engage in ordinary hand-to-hand combat in contrast to the beauty captured in Naruto? Aside from a compelling plot, well-captured fight scenes are a key component of shonen anime.
Aside from the anime quality, the heroine, princess Elizabeth of Liones character, is cringey and most often disconcerting, especially when she makes a mess of a situation she wishes to resolve. Coupled with that is the constant touching and grabbing of her body by Meliodas. Even as much as the story tries to capture her as a strong woman, she always trickles down to a ‘damsel in distress. While this might not be one of the most significant reasons the series fell off, the portrayal of women, especially the main heroine, can be a considerable letdown for many Otakus.
Excessive portrayal and objectification of women is a major issue in anime, and while this is still a common occurrence, change is required in this area.The Seven Deadly Sinsstill holds up its end of the bargain with an excellent storyline, but its poor animation after so much fan investment is always a letdown. The million-dollar question is, “Why not give it to a caring animation studio instead of ruining such a great show?”
