Gotham Knights, the new co-op game from WB Games Montreal, was originally scheduled to release in 2021. Unfortunately for those looking forward to the game,Gotham Knightswas delayed to 2022, and to this day, it lacks a specific release date. A rumor making the rounds online claims to leak theGotham Knightsrelease date to be much sooner than one would have expected, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath.

The rumor stems from a tweet by Twitter account Hogwarts Legacy News. The tweet shows an image of aGotham Knightsdisplay case at a game store, which claims that its release date is April 24, merely a month away. As one might imagine, this has drummed up quite a bit of excitement from fans thinking they will get to playGotham Knightssooner rather than later, but it’s almost certainly a placeholder date.

Besides the fact that if a triple-A game likeGotham Knightswas going to release in a month’s time that the release date would’ve already been announced, the big giveaway that this date is fake is that April 24 lands on a Sunday. Video game releases almost always happen on Tuesdays and Fridays, with very rare exceptions, and almost never on Sundays. Considering this, it is highly unlikely that theGotham Knightsrelease dateis April 24, and so fans should take this with a massive grain of salt.

That being said, it is possible that fans will hear Knightssoon. Unless plans changed, Warner Bros. is still planning to releaseGotham Knightsat some point in 2022, meaning that a release date announcement could come any day now. There are rumors that Sony will be hosting anew PlayStation State of Play event soon, so if those rumors are true, maybeGotham Knightswill make an appearance and confirm its release date.

Beyond that,Gotham Knightsbeing an online co-op gamemeans that it will likely have some kind of testing period ahead of launch. No official plans to that effect have been announced, but again, if the game is releasing in 2022, then one has to imagine that something like that would be announced in the relatively near future.

WhenGotham Knightsdoes release, it will be interesting to see how fans react to it. There’s been some skepticism because of the game’s co-op focus andthe lack of Batman, but fans will have to wait to play the game for themselves.

Gotham Knightsis in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
