As pointed out by PureXbox, the sale offers heavy discounts on many of the early Call of Dutygames, likeCall of Duty 2andCall of Duty 3,through to mid-series entries. The most recently released offering is2012’sCall of Duty: Black Ops 2,which some fans cite as the best in the long-running franchise. Of course, every fan has their own opinion, though the sale does offer a decent spread of games.
Discounts range from 30% onModern Warfare 2DLC to as high as 70% off forBlack Ops 2.Do keep in mind that not all the games will have highly active player bases, so it’s wise to think of the purchase as an investment in the campaign for each entry rather than the multiplayer. That being said, particularly popular entries likeModern Warfare 2andBlack Ops 2have managed to maintain enough players to at least find matches in game modes like Team Deathmatch.
The broaderCall of Dutyfranchise is in an interesting place right now.Call of Duty Vanguardwas relatively poorly received compared to other entries, continuing a critical slump for the franchise. Reports even claim thatCall of Duty 2023will be delayed, which would be the first year that hasn’t featured a newCall of Dutygame in decades.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is buying Activision. There are still many legal hurdles for the companies to get through before anything closes, but it does mark a new era for Xbox, Activision, and theCall of Dutyfranchise. Hopefully, it will be the best era yet.
