The Xbox Series X/S released yesterday, giving users the opportunity to check out all of the new console’s features. Many users chose to show off features likeQuick Resumeor graphic capabilities of launch titles, while other users chose to explore the physical features.
TheXbox Series X’s unique design allows air to flow through the bottom of the console and rise through the top vents. When the console’s fans kick on, one Reddit user found that the Xbox Series X may have levitation abilities. Reddit user “SnowFlakesMilkHoney” shared a photo of an Xbox 360 next to the Xbox Series X and a small ping pong ball can be seen floating above the vents of the new console.

Thedesign of the Xbox Series Xhas been a topic of debate since Microsoft first showed off the next-gen console. The design of the newest Xbox has compared to refrigerators and stands almost one foot tall when placed vertically. The console can be placed either vertically or horizontally, but most Xbox Series X demonstrations have placed the console vertically. The Xbox Series X fans and cooling were detailed by Microsoft many times, but there was no mention of the fans being capable of levitating a ping-pong ball.
Ping-pong balls only weigh about an ounce so anything heavier most likely will not float. Even though a ping-pong ball weighs almost nothing, the fan being powerful enough to make it float is impressive. The Xbox Series X needs effective cooling with the console holding12 teraflops of processing powerand running multiple games at up to 120 FPS.
Although the PlayStation 5 releases tomorrow, fans are already making comparisons between the consoles now that the Xbox Series X is available. Sony and Microsoft consoles have been pitted against each other by fans since the original Xbox and PlayStation 2. Both consoles look extremely impressive, but the cooling system may be one area where the Xbox Series X stands apart. Many fans are skeptical about how the first versions of the new consoles will perform, based on the history of released consoles needing tweaks to run without any issues. Fans have already claimed theXbox Series X smokes from the vent, however videos released have been highly debated, with many fans claiming the effect can be produced by vape smoke.
While some may question the legitimacy of the floating ping-pong ball picture, Xbox Series X owners can try out the trick for themselves. Many have pointed out that the console must be running extremely hard and fans may notice that the game being played isForza Horizon 4. Many memes, images, and videos will be floating around featuring the Xbox Series X and many more will feature the PlayStation 5 when it releases tomorrow.
