One crafty modder managed to enhanceThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildwith the addition of meat arrows. As per the creator’s own admission, this wacky mod is directly inspired by Fuse, one ofLink’s new abilities inTears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo has been rather coy with sharing details about its upcomingBreath of the Wildsequel up until recently. This finally changed in late March, when the developer published an in-depth gameplay overview of the game with the series' long-time producer Eiji Anouma. Among other things, the 14-minute video showcasedTears of the Kingdom’sFuse, a new ability allowing Link to stick any interactive objects in the game to one another in order to create new weapons, vehicles, and other items.

While Anouma explicitly confirmed thatTears of the Kingdomplayers will be able to fuse meat pieces with arrows, Nintendo’s recent gameplay overview did not show an example of how that’s going to look in practice. Enter content creator Waikuteru, whose latest mod is an attempt at implementing that idea inBreath of the Wild. In a new video shared on their YouTube channel, the discoverer of theBreath of the Wilddebug roomshowcased their simple take on meat arrows that circumvents the fusion mechanics in favor of immediately providing the player with an array of meaty projectiles.

In other words, this mod is essentially an asset flip that replaces the regular in-game arrows with their meat-carrying counterparts while retaining the former’s original functionality. That doesn’t make fighting Lynels with exploding meat projectiles any less entertaining, according to some of Waikuteru’s followers who shared their experiences with the mod on social media. Either way, meat arrows are far from this YouTuber’s most ambitious undertakings to date. About half a year back, Waikuteru teamed up with another modder to deliver a fairly comprehensiveHalloween DLC forBreath of the Wild.

While Nintendo has yet to reveal what its official meat arrows will do inTears of the Kingdom, the company’s recent gameplay overview suggested that such projectiles will have some hunting applications. The developer already showcased a similar creation consisting of a fused monster eye and an arrow that auto-locks to any nearby creature while flying. As for what combining meat with arrows might accomplish in the upcomingBreath of the Wildsequel, a flying lure for attracting larger animals is currently one of the leading theories among the fandom.
